Maine real estate sales jump 24.6 percent in September

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — For the third consecutive month, sales of single-family existing homes resulted in a double-digit statistical gain over the prior year.

Maine Listings on Monday reported 1,307 homes changed hands in September — a 24.6 percent jump compared to the same month a year ago. Statewide, the median sales price for those homes increased 1.8 percent to $173,000. The median sales price indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.
